Learning first aid techniques is a valuable skill for all generations, which is why City West teamed up with charity Millie’s Trust to offer life-saving training to young customers and their parents.
Under the supervision of experts, 28 children aged eight to 16 from the Swinton area of Salford joined their mums and dads for two training sessions where they learned vital first aid techniques, including how to attend to burns and cuts, react to choking and perform life-saving CPR.
Millie’s Trust was set up by Joanne and Dan Thompson following the loss of their daughter Millie in October 2012 after a choking incident at nursery. Created in Millie’s memory, the charity aims to give as many people as possible access to first aid training.
Joanne Thompson said: “We are impressed that City West has chosen to teach their residents a potential lifesaving skill. Many children have a lot of freedom in their lives and should know how to deal with an emergency situation if it involves their friends or their family.”
